About Me
Professional Background
I'm a Forest Spatial Scientist with The Nature Conservancy, living and working in Missoula, Montana. I'm an ecologist and biogeographer by training, and although my current research focuses on trees, I've worked with species ranging from wolves to sage grouse to mountain beavers. I'm always excited to learn about new systems and cool critters!
My PhD research focused on using tree-ring data and ecological niche theory to understand how species respond to climate change. I've since worked with federal, academic, and non-profit partners on some of the most pressing issues facing forest conservation and management in the western US and globally. I'm always interested in having conversations about conservation, so please reach out if you want to chat or collaborate!
Outside the Office
Outdoors
I really enjoy interacting with the physical landscape around our home in Missoula, MT. My favorite ways to do this are mountain biking, backcountry skiing, whitewater kayaking, and hunting. These are best enjoyed with my awesome wife and conservation scientist Molly McDevitt and our sweet doggo Barley.
Art & Music
I love making music and you might catch me playing bluegrass and swing mandolin or guitar around western Montana with various groups.
